Short Version

When you sign-up with us, we take great care in managing your information to keep it safe, and we'll never share it with others without your permission.

We count which pages get visited, using our own software on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party tracking service, and we do not use any cookie or other browser storage to do it. If you are signed in, the pages you view are recorded against your account; deleting your account unlinks them.

Measuring our visitors

We do not use Google Analytics, and we do not send any record of your visit to an analytics or advertising company. The measurement described here is done by our own software, on our own server, and the results are never shared with anyone.

Our web server keeps an ordinary access log of the requests it receives: the page requested, the time, the address your browser connected from and the browser's own description of itself. It is used to fix errors and to block abuse, it is never combined with your account, and it is deleted automatically after 52 days.

Separately from that log, we record a line for each page view so we can see which parts of the site are used. That line holds the page address, the time, whether the page was opened on a phone or a computer, and the name of the website you followed a link from, if there was one - for example "reddit.com". We store the site's name only, never the full address of the page you came from.

We do not store your IP address or your browser's description in these lines. To count how many different people visited on a given day, we scramble those two details together with the date and a secret, and keep only a short piece of the result. Because the date is part of it, the value is different tomorrow: it lets us count visitors within a single day and cannot be used to recognise you the next day, or to follow you between visits.

If you are signed in, your page views are recorded against your account. That is how we can tell, for example, whether people who stop playing were struggling with a particular page. If you close your account we remove your account number from those lines, so what is left says only that somebody viewed a page. We keep these lines for 60 days and then delete them; after that we keep only daily totals per page, which contain nothing about any individual.

The table predictor. When you share or copy a table on our Premier League table predictor, we keep that one table so we can show the average of everybody's on the same page. It is stored on its own, with nothing attached to say who sent it - no account, no name, no email - and that is true even if you happen to be signed in at the time. Your browser is left a mark saying it has already sent one, so that your table is counted once rather than every time you press share; that mark holds nothing but the fact, and clearing your browser data removes it. The scrambled daily value described above is used to limit how many tables can be added from one connection in a day, and for nothing else.

We use no cookie for any of this, and nothing about which pages you view is stored on your device, so there is nothing there for you to accept or refuse - which is why this site does not put a cookie banner in front of you. The table predictor is the one place that leaves a mark, described in the paragraph above, and it exists to keep your table from being counted twice. The cookies we do set are described below, and none of them is used to measure your visit.

Two parts of the site are served by other companies, and your browser contacts them directly when you use those pages: the anti-spam check on the sign-up and sign-in forms is Google reCAPTCHA, and the donation panel on the home page is an embedded Ko-fi page. We do not tell either of them who you are.

What personal information do we store?

We store the following basic information when supplied by you:

• Email address
• Username

While you are signed in we also record which pages of this site you view, against your account. That is described in full under “Measuring our visitors” above, including how long we keep it and what happens to it when you close your account.

We are committed to complying with the European Union’s GDPR in handling this information.

We will delete your data 12 months after you close your account.

• To keep you logged-in on returning to the website.
• To save your preferences and personalise our website for you.

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and no cookie we set is used to measure your visit.
