What is PLPredictor?
PLPredictor is a free Premier League score prediction game where you watch your friends'
predictions go right or wrong live during the match. You predict the exact scoreline of
every fixture, all 380 of them across the 38 gameweeks of a season, and you score points
for how close you got. Playing a gameweek takes about a minute.
If you only want to settle where the twenty clubs finish, there is a
Premier League table predictor here too.
Drag them into order, share the picture, no sign-up needed. The game below is the PL
predictor that runs every week.
How the scoring works
You get 10 points for calling the right result and 40 points
for the exact score. Once a gameweek you can nominate one fixture as your joker,
which doubles whatever that match returns: 20 for a correct result, 80 for an exact
score.
Predictions stay open right up until each match kicks off, and every match locks on its own
kick-off rather than all at once, so you can leave Sunday's games until Sunday. A match you
never predicted simply scores nothing rather than counting as a 0-0. The full rules,
including how ties are settled and what happens to a jokered match that gets postponed, are
on the how to play page.
The scoring shapes what people predict as well as what they score. Draws get under-called
and almost nobody picks 0-0, because 1-1 pays the same 10 and lands about twice as often.
Seven seasons of it have been measured here:
which clubs the crowd gets wrong, from 1.2
million predictions.
Play against your friends
The game is built around private leagues. Make one, send the invite link to the group chat,
and everyone who joins is ranked against each other all season, with trophies at the end. If
your league would rather play on base points alone, the admin can switch joker points off.
If you are the one setting it up for everybody, there is a guide to
running a prediction league.
Everyone plays in the global league too, against every other player on the site. Plenty of
them are watching the EPL from a very different time zone.
What happens during a match
Your friends' predictions stay hidden until kick-off, then unlock, so you spend the
match watching what everyone else needed as well as your own score. Your points climb live
as the goals go
in, and you can react to the predictions your rivals are now
stuck with.
Coming from the BBC Predictor?
PLPredictor carries on the same core scoring the BBC Sport game used, with private leagues,
the joker, live rival predictions and a hall of fame added on top. There is more on
how the two compare.
In its eighth season, and still changing
PLPredictor has run every season since 2019/20, and it still changes most weeks. This
season alone it has gained notifications, the Hall of Fame, a form guide on the predict
page, and the league table your own predictions would have made. All of it gets written up
as it goes: what has changed on PLPredictor, newest first.
